Oman – a country of deserts

In Oman

Explore mountains, beaches, deserts and enjoy the exotic spices of this amazing cultural crossroads

The Sultanate of Oman is exceptional in more than one way in this region of the world. The Omanis welcome you to their tradional world which is now slowly opening. The spectacular geography of their country takes you from the remote Empty Quarter to the mountain ranges — some exceeding 3,000 metres — via superb and empty coasts. A history flavoured by the multiple cultures of Zanzibar, Iran, and India. All this makes Oman a country apart and to be explored in detail by those who are fascinated by the world of Philby, Thomas, Thesiger, and Morris.

Japan under a blanket of snow

In Japan

Try the North in winter

Japan. The North. Winter. In this itinerary Matthieu Zellweger opens a door to the northern Japan during the season that fascinates him most: winter. Designed as an exploration of the further reaches of this far-flung country (Sapporo, Japanese Alps), it takes you from Hokkaido back to a cultural center of the country (Kanazawa) and then to the big city — Tokyo. This itinerary will offer you in turn modern and light aspects (the Snow Festival in Sapporo if the dates allow it), a fascinating and unfamiliar city (Hakodate), a total immersion into the harsh Japanese winter in Kakunodate before you marvel at the cultural beauties of the country further south in Kanazawa. Of course you will experience traditional Japanese inns (“ryokan”) as well as very contemporary places. Will you allow your curiosity to follow the path that Matthieu opens to the north of Japan in its most beautiful season ?
