While most people know sharks from the gore-filled images from the Jaws films which have traumatised generations of ocean users since 1975, few people know that over 450 different species of sharks exist worldwide. Sharks have been roaming the world’s oceans for over 400 millions years; less than ten species are potentially dangerous for human. Michael, with 10 years of research in South Africa on the great white shark, and Emilio, a former colleague of Michaels in RSA, will discuss in detail this fascinating trip. Two weeks in the Cape Town area to explore and discover several species of shark found in the region, with particular emphasis on the great white shark.

This briefing is intended primarily for people interested in taking part in the shark discovery trip in August 2013. After a short introduction, they will get to grips with the details of the trip and ask questions on the subject, or, on the more practical aspects of this experience.
