The Jurassic Coast

Dorset is one of the most quintessentially English counties – an ancient region with no highways or cities, scattered with very quiet villages, charming pubs, warm tearooms, lively streams and hedgerows sprinkeld with wildflowers. Dorset has a spectacular and enchanting coastline, part of the famous Jurassic Coast, England’s only natural World Heritage Site. It is here that fossils are abundant documenting life’s evolution and here where the first evidence was found to support Darwin’s famous theory. Archaeological remains litter the countryside: Bronze Age mounds, Iron Age hill-forts and Roman sites are an integral part of the beauty of Dorset. Castles, abbeys and medieval churches continue to delight of visitors. However this trip will focus on the Jurassic Coast. Join Robert Westwood, geologist and connoisseur of the region, to explore the Jurassic Coast.
