Conference on two eco-tourism projects in Mexico

Two new areas of interest and two collaborations are opening the doors of Mexico to us.

Our coffee supplier Malongo, historically very active in the field of fair trade and organic and origin certification labels FairTrade proposes to enter daily life and work of the Zapotec community belonging to the community UCIRI near Salina Cruz on the Pacific coast. The Zapotec are part of one of the oldest pre-Columbian civilizations. This is a unique opportunity to reside in a mountain village with the community and discover the different stages of cultivation, harvesting, and processing of coffee cherries and grains. A week in this community may well be accompanied by a few days on the beautiful Pacific coast of Mexico.

On the Caribbean coast of Mexico, away from the tourist areas of Cancun, along the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula is an area protected by UNESCO called Sian Ka’an by Maya Indians who once inhabited. Tropical forests, mangrove swamps, coral reefs are ecosystems. The fauna and flora are exceptionally rich. Richard Capitanio, a Swiss there, welcomes you. Discovery of marine life, underground rivers and Mayan sites make up the program.

These two programs can be done independently but may connect well to make a magnificent vacation of 18 days to show a different Mexico.

This conference takes place Thursday, June 21 at 19:00 at our office in Vevey. For details and registration check the event Ecotourism in Mexico.
